Pothole on P’kot-Mandi NH invites road accidents (Pix)

A big pothole on the Pathankot-Mandi national highway at Kotla is an open invitation for accidents, especially for those riding two-wheelers. With the state national highway authorities not bothering to fill it up, commuters feel the inconvenience while crossing the stretch, especially at night. Recently, two bikers met with an accident at this spot. Two other accidents involving a car and a truck have also occurred on the same spot. The authorities concerned should immediately fill up this pothole — Shiv Kumar, Kotla

Covid protocols not being followed in buses

Despite the authorities claiming that the Covid-19 guidelines would be strictly followed in HRTC buses, it is not the case. Even in private buses plying in Shimla, safety protocols are being disregarded. The social distancing rule is being flouted blatantly and the rush in buses is such that some passengers are standing too. In the absence of any checks, many passengers do not even wear masks. The drivers and conductors should ensure that SOPs are followed for everybody’s safety. – Raman Chauhan, Shimla
