The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced a civil defence mock drill in Shimla district on May 7 at 4 pm. This exercise aims to train citizens in emergency response procedures during a hostile attack.

The drill will commence with a two-minute air raid warning siren featuring alternating high and low pitch tones. Upon hearing the siren, citizens are urged to seek shelter in a safe location, preferably a room without glass windows or doors. Avoid opening or closing doors and windows, switch off electrical appliances if time allows, and crouch down using a sturdy object to protect the head. Residents are also advised to avoid unnecessary use of mobile phones and wait for the official “All Clear” signal before resuming normal activities.

To simulate a complete blackout, citizens should turn off all lights, cover windows with dark materials, and refrain from using flashlights or mobile phone lights outdoors. The drill will conclude with a continuous two-minute siren, signaling the end of the exercise and the resumption of normal activities.
