Expressing concern over the current state of the employees, former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur has asked CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to clarify his stance on the issues of employees.

While participating as the chief guest at the live broadcast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Mann Ki Baat” programme and the District Shimla Membership Campaign 2024 workshop held here today, Thakur accused the present state government of stopping development and mismanagement in the state. He said unrest prevailed among employees over their promotions, dearness allowance and arrears. Such issues were managed more effectively during the BJP govt tenure, he stated.

The LoP also said that the BJP legislative party would meet to frame a strategy for the upcoming Assembly session, where the party would challenge Congress on the issues like inflation, mismanagement, corruption and law and order.

He also expressed thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) and said that the initiative was a significant boost for employees. “This scheme, which includes various benefits such as a guaranteed minimum pension and family pension provisions, is a major step towards securing employees’ future,” he said.

Jai Ram Thakur also lauded the “Mann Ki Baat” programme, describing it as one of PM Modi’s most popular initiatives. He praised Modi’s encouragement of students from IIT Madras, which, he said, would boost the start-up ecosystem.
