Class XII student dies by suicide in Shimla

A Class XII student allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself in his room in Shimla. He cited poor performance in academics as the reason for the extreme step.

The incident took place in the Phagli area of Shimla. The father of the boy, upon reaching home, found the door locked from inside. When he looked into the room from the window, he found his son hanging from the ceiling. He broke the door of the house and informed the police. The police found a suicide note written by the boy in his notebook, mentioning that he was stressed due to his poor academic performance.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
