The staff of ICAR-Directorate of Mushroom Research, Solan, organised a cleanliness drive where Director VP Sharma administered the pledge to all staff members. During the 15-day drive, various events were organised, including cleaning nearby villages, parks, nearby schools and residential complexes. The participants of the ongoing entrepreneurs’ training programme on mushroom cultivation were also involved in various events where the message to reduce the use of single-use plastic, prepare compost from kitchen waste and utilise the available water judiciously were highlighted. Further, solid waste management, recycling of waste water, water harvesting, cleaning of public places, quiz and drawing competition for schoolchildren, planting of saplings, promoting clean and green technologies, recycling of spent mushroom substrate, clean and green technologies, preparation of waste disposal pit etc. were the major programmes organised. Former MP Virender Kashyap also participated in the drive and requested all staff members and farmers to rededicate themselves to the programme so that the dream of Swachh Bharat of Mahatma Gandhi was realised.

Minhas is NSUI chief of HPU

Praveen Minhas (pic) has been appointed as the president of the NSUI unit of Himachal Pradesh University with immediate effect by NSUI state president Chhatter Singh Thakur. Minhas said he would work for the organisation wholeheartedly and take the NSUI to new heights.

Govt school marks annual day

The Government Senior Secondary School, Devri Khaneti, celebrated the annual prize distribution day. DAV College principal Sneha Raina presided over the function and appreciated the cultural programme organised on the occasion and gave mementoes to students who excelled in studies and other co-curricular activities. She told students to stay away from drugs and reminded teachers and parents that it was primarily their duty to ensure that students were not attracted towards drugs. School principal Dinesh Sharma presented a detailed report about activities in the school during the year.
