Close shave for schoolchildren as rams into pile of muck
A mechanical fault forced driver to ram the bus against a pile of muck
Students of Ambala-based Nand Lal Geeta Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School had a close shave when the bus they were travelling in developed a mechanical fault forcing the driver to ram it against a pile of muck causing the vehicle to stop abruptly at Harat village, near Salogra- Harat village, today morning.
The cautious driver, Pravesh Kumar, saved the bus from plunging into a deep gorge thus averting a major mishap though it hung precariously along the edge of the link road. The driver said there were 50 occupants, including 28 girls in the bus, along with the school staff.
The bus (bearing registration number HR 37 D 6837) was going from Tepla village near Ambala to Harat to Mohan Shakti Heritage Park when the mishap occurred.
The children visibly shaken after the accident were safely rescued by the school staff. They escaped unhurt. The bumper of the bus, however, was damaged while a crane tried to pull it out from the muck where its front rare wheels were stuck.
Gaurav Singh, Superintendent of Police, Solan, said, “The police have not been informed about the accident.”
