A sudden cloudburst in the Manikaran Valley on Saturday night caused severe flash floods, washing away three cowsheds and three footbridges in Chhalal, Rasol and Kasol villages. The flooding of the Kasol nullah damaged several vehicles and caused panic among residents, many of whom endured a sleepless night as water level rose rapidly.

The Khokhan nullah in Bhuntar also overflowed, sending water and slush into multiple houses and shops.

Meanwhile, the Pirdi nullah experienced a flash flood, depositing heavy silt on the Kullu-Mohal road, partially disrupting traffic. The road leading to Gadauri village was also damaged due to another flash flood, and the Mohal rivulet swelled dangerously.

Incessant rainfall has disrupted water supply schemes and electricity in several areas. Landslides have blocked many local routes, further isolating villages.

Fortunately, no major casualties or significant loss of life has been reported so far.

Kullu Deputy Commissioner Torul S Raveesh has urged residents to stay alert and avoid venturing near water bodies and landslide-prone zones. Authorities are assessing the extent of the damage and working to restore essential services.

The incident highlights the vulnerability of the region to extreme weather events, calling for better disaster preparedness in the mountainous terrain. Locals have been advised to remain cautious as more rainfall is predicted in the coming days.
