Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur laid foundation stones and dedicated developmental projects worth of Rs 270 crore in the Dharampur Assembly segment of Mandi district today.

He inaugurated Gantrailu Bridge constructed at a cost of Rs 3.57 crore and Kanda Pattan-Pangoh-Hayolag Road constructed with an outlay of Rs 33.50 lakh. He also flagged off an HRTC bus on the route.

The Chief Minister laid foundation stones of a lift water supply scheme to Baroti Mandap Jodhan costing Rs 62 crore, Mukhyamantri Lok Bhawan Baroti, staff quarters of Government Degree College, Dharampur, science block of Government Senior Secondary School, Baroti and playground of Government Senior Secondary School, Baroti.

Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated a sericulture division at Sandhol and lift water supply scheme for Bahri-Mahri-Dhawali. He said a modern industrial training institute (ITI) would be opened at Baroti in the Dharampur area of Mandi from the next session to provide job-oriented education to students.

The Chief Minister also launched Jal Jeevan Mission for the state from Tihra in Mandi. He launched the mission online for Thunag in Mandi, Koti in Shimla, Tissa in Chamba and Jhandutta in Bilaspur for providing uninterrupted tapped water to every household. He said the mission would go a long way in solving the water problem of the state.

Targeting leaders of the Opposition party, the Chief Minister said they were even questioning the Global Investors Meet organised by the state government. The Congress leaders had travelled throughout the country to attract investments during their regime in the state, but failed miserably. He said the present government had succeeded in signing MoUs worth about Rs 1 lakh crore. The Dharampur area would be developed from the tourism point of view. The CM also said the CAA was no way against any minority community and the state fully supported the Act in the larger interest of the country. — TNS
