CM connects with villagers, okays Rs 5 lakh aid to women SHGs in Kullu’s Sharchi
During his visit as part of the ‘Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar’ initiative, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu spent night at the residence of retired Subedar Anoop Ram in Sharchi village of Banjar subdivision. Excitement filled the air as villagers extended a heartfelt and traditional welcome having the Chief Minister in their midst.
During his stay, the Chief Minister actively interacted with villagers of all age groups, listening to their concerns and challenges. The residents grabbed this opportunity to discuss their day-to-day struggles, prompting the Chief Minister to issue on-the-spot directives to officials for swift resolution of key issues.
Speaking in the local dialect, he assured villagers that adequate budgetary provisions would be made to address their needs. He directed the Public Works Department to widen and upgrade the Nagladi–Sharchi road, ensuring proper drainage alongside it.
Additionally, paver blocks would be installed where necessary to enhance long-term maintenance.
In a significant move to empower women, the Chief Minister announced grant of Rs 1 lakh each for five women’s self-help groups from the Sharchi panchayat. The following morning, he shared breakfast with villagers, engaging in discussions about government schemes and initiatives aimed at improving their lives. He also briefed them on special revenue Lok Adalats, organised at tehsil and sub-tehsil levels, designed to expedite long-pending revenue cases.
“It brings me great joy to be among you,” the Chief Minister stated. “Since the formation of this government, I have made it a priority to personally visit remote areas and understand people’s problems firsthand. Sharchi, nestled in the scenic Banjar area, is another step in this journey. I have already visited Dodra Kwar, Kupvi and Pangi as part of this programme, spending time with communities there. My Cabinet colleagues are also traveling across the state to address public concerns,” he stated.
The CM’s visit was met with overwhelming appreciation. Retired Subedar Anoop Ram expressed his gratitude, saying, “This is the first time any Chief Minister has visited our remote village. We hope this visit accelerates development here. I feel honoured that he chose my home to stay.” His son Naresh echoed his sentiment, stating, “Sharchi is a far-flung village in the Banjar constituency. The Chief Minister’s visit has brought immense joy to our people—it’s a matter of pride, not just for our family but for the entire village.”
The warmth of the reception extended to Bandal panchayat president Ishwari Devi, who welcomed the Chief Minister, noting that such a visit had never occurred before. Rameshwari Thakur, president of Sharchi panchayat, also conveyed gratitude for the government’s initiatives focused on empowering women.
Earlier, the Chief Minister visited the Gada Durga temple, offering prayers for the prosperity and well-being of the state.
