Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu flagged off five vehicles carrying relief material for disaster-affected areas across the state from his official residence here today. The relief consignment, provided by the International Lions Club, comprised 161 kits containing dry ration, utensils, blankets, tarpaulins and other essential items. The material would be disbursed to the affected families through the Sub-Divisional Magistrates concerned.

The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the International Lions Club for the generous assistance. He said that the state had suffered extensive losses during the monsoon season this year. It lost a large number of precious lives and suffered significant damage to public and private property. He appreciated the efforts of various organisations and individuals who had come forward to support the disaster-affected families.
