Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur paid floral tributes to the former Chief Minister Yashwant Singh Parmar by garlanding his statue at The Ridge in Shimla today, on his 115th birth anniversary.

Later, the Chief Minister, while participating in a function held on the occasion at Vidhan Sabha Complex, Shimla, also garlanded the portrait of Parmar.

Governor Rajendra Arlekar also paid tributes to the first Chief Minister of the state. He said Parmar had laid a strong foundation for the development for the state, and on this day everyone should take a pledge to realise his dreams and contribute to state’s progress.

He said Dr Parmar dedicated his life for the welfare of people and development of the hill state. Speaker of state Vidhan Sabha Vipin Singh Parmar, Leader of Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri, Cabinet ministers Mahender Singh, Suresh Bhardwaj, Sarveen Chaudhary, Dr Rajiv Saizal and Sukh Ram Chaudhary, Deputy Speaker Hans Raj, Chief Whip Bikram Jaryal, Deputy Chief Whip Kamlesh Kumari and MLA Rajiv Bindal also paid their floral tributes to Parmar on the occasion.

The Himachal Pradesh University also organised a state-level celebration to mark the occasion.
