CM inaugurates Command, Control & Crime Response Centre in Dharamsala
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today inaugurated the Command, Control and Crime Response Centre “Chakshu Chakra” at the office of the Superintendent of Police in Dharamsala. This Centre, set up under the Smart City Mission, was virtually inaugurated by the Chief Minister from Dehra where he was on a two-day tour in the Kangra district.
Under this project, a total of 229 CCTV cameras have been installed at prominent places in the Dharamsala city, out of which seven sites have been installed under Intelligent Traffic Management System.
SP Shalini Agnihotri said that this system would be helpful in better implementation of traffic management, surveillance, public safety and law and order.
This state-of-the-art centre has been set up at a cost of Rs 2.72 crore. This centre is an important step towards strengthening urban governance and other civic services in the city. This centre will act as a central system for monitoring, coordination and rapid response management, ensuring public service delivery and urban security.
She said that the district police have also planned that in the near future all the cameras installed in Kangra district will be monitored at one place through the main server, which has been made functional today.
Earlier, the CM inaugurated a cricket match in Dehra to create awareness about the drug menace, organised as part of the “Kanoon Vidyalaya” awareness campaign launched by the police department of Dehra district. He also showcased his batting skills.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM emphasised the role of sports in promoting a spirit of sportsmanship and discipline among the youth. He said that such initiatives not only encourage physical fitness but also serve as effective platforms for raising awareness about the harmful effects of drugs. He advised the younger generation to lead a healthy and drug-free life.
Dehra SP Mayank Chaudhary said that the Dehra police would continue to take forward this initiative in the future. He said the police have been actively engaging with gram panchayats, students and taxi drivers to spread awareness on drug abuse, cybercrime, law and order and road safety.
Sukhvinder Sukhu also unveiled the statue of great emperor Prithviraj Chauhan at the main chowk in Dehra, which was relocated from some other place. He named this chowk as Prithviraj Chauhan Chowk, which, according to him, will become a symbol of pride not only for the Rajput community but for the entire region. His wife and local MLA Kamlesh Thakur was also present along with him.
During his tour, he inspected various development projects going on in the area and listened to the problems of the people.
He also visited the Rajput Kalyan Sabha in Dehra. While interacting with the people of the society, he said that the state government is committed to the social, cultural and historical preservation of different communities. He said, “Dehra is the land of heroes and it is our priority to preserve its historical and cultural heritage.”
