Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has fulfilled his assurance to the Rajput Mahasabha Himachal Pradesh by reconstituting the Rajput Welfare Board. The official notification for its revival was issued on August 23, 2025.
In a joint statement, Rajput Mahasabha president Er KS Jamwal, senior vice-president & former Vice-Chancellor Prof Ashok Kumar Sarial and general secretary Vijay Chandel said representatives from 10 districts had earlier met the CM at his Shimla residence and office on April 24 and June 27 this year. During these meetings, the delegation submitted a memorandum demanding the reactivation of the Board, which had remained defunct since 2017.
The Rajput Welfare Board was originally constituted in 2014 by the then CM, late Virbhadra Singh, at the request of Rajput Kalyan Sabha, Kangra. At that time, the Board convened annually under the chairmanship of the CM, offering the community a platform to present its concerns directly before the government.
However, since 2017 the Board had been completely inactive. With the issuance of the fresh notification, the Board has officially become active once again. The Rajput Mahasabha Himachal Pradesh, which represents district-level Rajput associations across the state, expressed gratitude to the CM, stating that the revival of the Board will provide an effective forum for the community to present its concerns and suggestions directly to the government.
