Shimla: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Saturday thanked the Telangana Government for helping Lalit Kumar, who was stranded at Kukatpalli due to curfew but had to undergo a surgery for LAP appendectomy in Omini hospital there. Lalit is a native of Lalyar village in the Tauni Devi area of Hamirpur district. The Chief Minister also lauded the efforts of B Lakshmi Narayan Reddy, Inspector of Telangana Police, who paid Rs 20,000 to the hospital from his own pocket.
Industries can operate in 3 shifts
Solan: The District Magistrate has permitted industries to operate in three shifts as against two earlier. Besides, 30 to 40 per cent workforce will be permitted in each shift. The company managements will have to seek movement passes from the SP for bringing their workforce from other districts and only 30 to 40 per cent passenger capacity will be permitted. This order will, however, not be applicable to the industries situated in the two containment zones of Nalagarh and Jharmajri. TNS

Solan: DC, Sirmaur, RK Pruthi, said microbiologist Neelam Sharma had been declared the winner for giving the best suggestions on his Facebook page pertaining to Covid-19 protection. Pruthi said the suggestions pertaining to wearing masks for those venturing outside were scientifically proven and he urged the people to follow it. The DC has invited suggestions on his FB page pertaining to wearing masks during the Covid-19 pandemic. TNS
Losses due to hailstorm assessed
Nurpur: Local MLA Rakesh Pathania called Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Sunday morning and apprised him of the plight of farmers and growers of Nurpur who had lost their mango and vegetable crops, besides the standing wheat crop in Saturday’s rain and hailstorm that had lashed four gram panchayats. Following the direction of the Chief Minister, teams from the agriculture and horticulture departments visited Nagabari, Chhatrolli, Baduee and Thohra gram panchayats and assessed the losses. Pathania said he would urge the Chief Minister to give compensation to the affected farmers. OC
Chemists to keep a tab on customers
Solan: District Magistrate KC Chaman has directed all private practitioners and chemists to provide information about people approaching them with symptoms like fever, tiredness, dry cough, aches, pain, runny nose, sore throat and diarrhoea on a daily basis. The DM said information regarding symptoms should be communicated to the health authorities as well as the district administration. This information should be communicated to the SPs and the chief medical officer at Solan. TNS
Ban sought on spurious chemical to apple growers
Shimla: Horticulture scientists have demanded a ban on the sale of a “spurious” promalin chemical product, touted as a growth regulator, to apple farmers. This synthetic chemical is being sold by some local agents in Jubbal Kotkhai, Rohru and Kumarsain to farmers at exorbitant prices ranging from Rs 18,000 per litre to Rs 34,000 per litre in the apple belt. Scientists say that the synthetic promlin is imported from the USA and the UK for research and development purpose. TNS
Jubbal family thanks CM for timely help
Shimla: Family members of Kuldeep Sood, 64, who hails from Jubbal in Shimla district, have expressed thanks to Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur for saving his life. Sood was suffering from a breathing problem and was stuck at Panchkula. He was dependent on a breathing machine and had been spending days at a house in Panchkula. As soon as the matter was brought to the notice of the Chief Minister, he deputed a team of medical staff to visit Sood’s house in Panchkula. He was shifted from Panchkula to his native town Jubbal in an ambulance free of cost on April 20. TNS
