Himachal CM unveils Forest Dept’s activity calendar
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today released the Forest Department’s activity calendar, showcasing various environmental initiatives undertaken across Himachal Pradesh on the occasion of International Environment Day, June 5.
The Forest Department organised a series of awareness programmes in nearly 1,000 educational institutions, engaging over 50,000 students. The celebrations were held under the themes ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ and ‘Beat the Plastics’, emphasising sapling plantation and plastic waste reduction.
Cleanliness drives were also carried out around departmental offices with active involvement from newly recruited Van Mitras, students, and local residents, promoting community participation in environmental conservation.
Commending the department’s efforts, the Chief Minister lauded their commitment to environmental protection and sustainability. He urged officers to further strengthen public awareness about departmental schemes and ensure effective community engagement in their implementation. The event was attended by Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (HOFF) Sameer Rastogi and other senior officials, who reaffirmed the department’s dedication to a greener and cleaner Himachal.
