Wazir Ram Singh Government College, Dehri, organised a special programme to observe International Day for Persons with Disabilities in collaboration with Angel Disability and Orphanage Home, Bhagwal (Rehan) on Wednesday. The programme was organised under the guidance of Dr Neha Mishra, convener of the college committee for the welfare of disabled students.
A group of 32 college students accompanied by members of the committee took part in the outreach programme at the orphanage home. Principal Sachin Kumar addressed the participants on the college campus and motivated them to participate in the programme with compassion and interact with the inmates of the home. He also encouraged them to gather experience of disabled inmates (children) of the orphanage home and understand their needs. He said the International Day of Persons with Disabilities was not merely an event but a symbol of responsibility towards society.
The students who participated in the outreach programme presented a cultural programme and a stage show of motivational performances for the inmates. This was followed by an interactive session with inmates with disabilities. As part of a financial initiative, the faculty members of the college collected Rs 8,500 and contributed this amount for the welfare of the disabled inmates of the orphanage home.
