State Congress president Pratibha Singh today asked party workers to come forward to protect the Constitution of the country. She alleged that the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre was trying to weaken the Constitution.

Pratibha, while presiding over a programme organised here on the occasion of Constitution Day, administered the oath of protecting the Constitution to the party workers and Seva Dal officials.

She said BR Ambedkar protected human rights in the Constitution, but the NDA government was violating those rights. “Under a well-planned strategy, efforts are being made to weaken the Constitution. The time has come to make the people of the country aware of their rights,” she said while calling upon all Congressmen to unite and word to save the Constitution.

In his address, All India Congress Seva Dal treasurer and in-charge of the state Seva Dal, Narendra Batish, said the Congress workers will have to fight unitedly against the divisive forces in the country.

“Seva Dal had shouldered a big responsibility at the time of Independence, and now they have a huge responsibility to save the Constitution, which they will fulfil with full honesty,” he said. State women Congress president Zainab Chandel also expressed her views on the preamble of the Constitution, slammed the disruptive forces.
