“Minorities in neighbouring countries suffering from atrocities in the name religion have been given citizenship but Congress is misleading the public on the issue,” he said.

Shah was speaking at a rally at the Ridge in Shimla to mark the completion of two years of BJP government in the state.

Shah listed the scrapping of Article 370 and the Supreme Court decision that the paved way for the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya among the achievements of the BJP government at the Centre.

“Dev Bhoomi is also called veer bhumi as soldiers of Himachal have sacrificed their lives for the nation and have received four Param Vir Chakras,” said Shah.

He said that Rs 35,000 crores had been deposited in the accounts of army retirees under the one rank one pension scheme.

Shah said: “Narendra Modi with his 56-inch chest is a PM who knows how to give a befitting reply to terrorists.”

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and BJP working president J P Nadda were also present at the rally.

Shah congratulated Thakur for ensuring “groundbreaking” projects worth Rs 13,500 crore in less than two months of an investor meeting in the state.

“Modi gave AIIMS and an NDRF battalion to the state, besides 69 national highways and the DPRs of 58 national highways have been prepared,” said Shah.

Thakur presented a report card of two years of BJP government and also said that he supported CAA, calling it a “big move for the rehabilitation of minorities living in atrocities”.

He said Himachal was the first state to give an LPG connection to all the families—2,64,115 connections were granted under Grihini Suvidha Yojna.

He said problems of 45,000 people were resolved at the doorstep under the Jan Mancha.
