Rajeev Chopra, district president of the Congress Seva Dal, joined the BJP in the presence of district BJP president Baldev Sharma here today.
Significantly, Chopra was appointed the district president about a month ago. He recently attended a national seminar of the Seva Dal in Bhopal and was reportedly dismissed from the post yesterday evening by the state Seva Dal chief Anurag Sharma.
Speaking on the occasion, Baldev Sharma said people had started leaving the Congress and the joining of Chopra would further strengthen the BJP in the district.
Meanwhile, Anurag Sharma, state president of the Congress Seva Dal, said Chopra was dismissed from his post yesterday following reports of his anti-party activities. Sanjay Parmar was appointed the officiating district organiser in his place, he added.
