The Congress will kick off its ‘Save the Constitution’ campaign with a state-level rally in Shimla on April 26. The plan for launching the campaign and its implementation was discussed at a party meeting convened and chaired by state party president Pratibha Singh at the party headquarters today. The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, ministers and MLAs and other party leaders.

Pratibha urged the party leaders to participate in the campaign. She said that the party would give a befitting reply to the BJP for harassing Sonia Gandhi and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi by filing false cases against them.

Pratibha said that as per the guidelines of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), state-level ‘Save the Constitution’ rallies would be held in all states from April 25 to 30, district-level rallies from May 3 to 10 and at the Assembly constitueny-level from May 11 to 17. Thereafter, she added, the party leaders and workers would start a door-to-door campaign from May 20 to 30 to make people aware of the BJP’s anti-people decisions and policies.

The Chief Minister said that a state-level rally would be organised at the Ambedkar Chowk in Chaura Maidan on April 26. “In this rally, AICC in-charge for the state Rajni Patil, all ministers, MLAs and other leaders will participate,” he added. Sukhu called upon all leaders to extend full support to make the campaign successful.

As for the delay in the reconstitution of the party organisation, Pratibha said that Rajni Patil would visit the state on April 24 and following her approval the lists of the office-bearers would be sent to the party high command.
