New Delhi, April 18
Top Congress leaders had a closed-door meeting at party chief Sonia Gandhi’s residence today to discuss the strategy for the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh elections.
Strategist Prashant Kishor separately met Sonia at her residence today, days after he gave a proposal to the party for the 2024 General Election suggesting the party to focus on 370 parliamentary seats.
Sonia attended the strategy meeting today for a while, but sources said Rahul Gandhi was absent. Congress leaders KC Venugopal, Ambika Soni, Priyanka Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh, P Chidambaram and Randeep Surjewala were among those present.
The discussions, a leader said, happened on ways to plan for the Gujarat and HP polls due later this year and elections in Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, MP and Rajasthan scheduled for 2023. Meanwhile, the Congress is discussing whether to formally induct Kishor into the party. —
