Congress chargesheet ready, to be submitted to Governor: Sanjay Dutt

The diversion of state funds to the constituencies of the CM and his Cabinet colleagues will also be highlighted, says Sanjay Dutt, AICC secretary and co-incharge of Congress affairs in HP.

Sanjay Dutt, AICC secretary and co-incharge of Congress party affairs in Himachal Pradesh, said the Congress would submit a chargesheet against the ruling BJP government headed by Chief Jai Ram Thakur this month to the Governor of Himachal Pradesh Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, highlighting gross irregularities committed by the government in past four-and-a-half years.

Addressing mediapersons at Baijnath today, Dutt said the chargesheet committee constituted by the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) had already finalised the draft and it would be made public as soon as it was presented to the Governor. He said the party had prepared fact-based documents against the ruling party with credible evidence.

He said pick and choose policy of the government in granting jobs ignoring merits in select Assembly segments would be one of the key issues in the chargesheet. Besides, the diversion of state funds to the constituencies of the Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues would also be highlighted in the chargesheet.

“The chargesheet committee also observed that there are mass irregularities in the purchase of material in various state departments, particularly the purchase of large quality of water supply pipes by the Jal Shakti Department in the state. Substandard water supply pipes were purchased by the government in gross violation of rules. The situation has come to such a pass that the Jal Shakti Department had no place to stack these pipes. Therefore, these are lying on the roadside in different parts of the state,” he added

“Despite a complete ban on the felling of trees mass deforestation was done in the different parts of the state. Even reserve forests were not spared by the government. However, the state forest and environment departments remained mute spectators and failed to initiate any action against the accused. The situation was worse in the home constituency of Chief Minister where hundreds of trees were axed,” Dutt added.

Dutt categorically stated that if the Congress was voted to power, it would order a probe into all irregularities committed by the BJP government led by Jai Ram Thakur.
