Congress exploits SCs for vote bank: Himachal BJP chief Rajeev Bindal
Solan, February 7
The BJP organised a meeting of its Scheduled Caste (SC) Morcha of Sirmaur district at Nahan today.
BJP state president Rajeev Bindal, while addressing party workers, alleged that the Congress had always used the SC community as a vote bank. “In 75 years of Independence, the Congress had ruled the country for around 60 years. It always raised the slogan of eradicating poverty but did not care about the poor,” he claimed.

He alleged that the Congress divided the SCs into more castes. “The Congress always used Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar’s name for political gains but never followed the path shown by him,” he added.
Bindal said, “The Central Government gave the highest respect to the SC community and appointed Ram Nath Kovind as President. Kovind is a big leader of the SC community. It was lamentable that the Congress opposed his election but the BJP ensured his victory.”
He added that the Congress also opposed the election of incumbent President Droupadi Murmu, who comes from the tribal community. “The Congress does not want to see a Dalit leader occupying the highest position,” he alleged.
Bindal claimed that on the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched several welfare schemes for the poor, which benefited the Dalits the most.
He said the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana and other efforts like providing pucca houses to the poor, toilets, Jan Dhan accounts and the schemes for street vendors had benefited a large number of people.
