Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur today accused the Congress government of harassing industrialists, which was not in the interest of the state.

In a statement issued here, Thakur accused Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu of pushing many industries, especially steel, on the verge of closure. “A government that had promised to provide cheap electricity to industrialists than the neighboring states to encourage investment is now going back on its commitment,” he added.

Thakur said that the anti-industry stance adopted by the state government was compelling industrialists to contemplate closing their units in Himachal and relocate. “Steel industries are complaining that in two years, the government has increased the power prices so much that it has become difficult to run plants,” he added.
