Addressing a press conference here today, Thakur said the state government has not even a single achievement to list even as half of their term has ended. “The sole objective and efforts of the Chief Minister are aimed at saving his chair as there is great resentment among party MLAs and leaders,” he said.

The former CM said there was total collapse of law and order situation in the state with people losing faith in the police after the shoddy investigation in the death of Chief Engineer Vimal Negi. “When the CM said that state government will not challenge the High Court order of handing over investigation into death of Vimal Negi to the CBI, in what capacity if SP Shimla challenging the order. This only indicates that he has the full shelter and patronage of the state government,” he remarked.

Thakur also lashed out at the government for imposing Rs 10 charges for patient slip in hospitals and withdrawing facility of some free tests in government hospitals. “Congress, which came to power on the basis of false promises of 10 guarantees, has taken several anti-people decisions like enhancing water, power and hospital charges,” he said. He added that it has now become routine for the government to take a u-turn on every issue when a controversy erupts.

Thakur also raised the issue of lack of action against illegal liquor business going on in Kala Amb for the last two years. He said no action had been taken and no FIR registered by the Excise Department so far, giving a free run to violators.
