The BJP today said that the Congress’ two-year rule was marked by deception, fraud and corruption and the unemployed youth were left in the lurch.
As part of ongoing statewide protests, the party demonstrated against the Congress government’s alleged misrule at Solan and Nahan. BJP state president Rajeev Bindal said, “The scrap mafia has gained roots under the protection of the Congress government. Everyday in Baddi-Barotiwala and Nalagarh, incidents of firing, murder and kidnapping are occurring in broad daylight. The liquor mafia, transfer mafia and the contractor mafia have gained an upper hand and the government is celebrating two years in office. At a time when the state is reeling under a huge debt, development has halted, schools, hospitals, patwar circles and tehsil offices have been closed due to the paucity of funds, celebrations are being held at the cost of the public exchequer,” he alleged.
Bindal said that murders, rapes, harassment of women and hooliganism had occurred regularly in the state for the past two years. “Hooliganism has peaked in the state. Encounters with the drug mafia have become common and the government is going to hold celebrations at a place where an encounter had taken place,” he added.
Bindal said that the unemployed youth were completely disappointed as they had voted for the Congress believing that five lakh jobs would be given in the very first cabinet. “The youth were misled by Priyanka Vadra’s false promise but not even one government job had been given in the past two years. On the contrary, 10,000 employees have been dismissed from service,” he added.
Bindal said, “The Congress government is celebrating deception, injustice and atrocities against the youth. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Mukesh Agnihotri and other leaders have cheated 28 lakh women to garner votes. They went door to door filling forms and promising Rs 1,500 per month to every woman above 18 years of age irrespective of their caste, income and job. An amount of Rs 18,000 was to be granted annually for five years but the promises proved hollow as merely 28,000 women had been given the amount after two years.”
Bindal said that the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government had broken all records in telling lies, fraud and deceit and deceived 22 lakh farmers, 25 lakh electricity consumers, employees, youth and pensioners, who had not got medical bill reimbursement. “Law and order is deteriorating but the Sukhu government has not waken up even after the brutal murder of a Dalit youth in Chamba and cutting of his body into eight pieces with a saw,” he added.
Lok Sabha MP Suresh Kashyap and Rajya Sabha MP Indu Goswami participated in the demonstration.
