Lauding decision of the Himachal Pradesh government to recruit 985 computer science lecturers, computer and vocational instructors have demanded that the ruling dispensation should limit the condition of five-year experience in the recruitment process for computer science lecturer posts to the experience of computer teachers and IT subject vocational trainers of government schools.

In a press statement, computer and vocational instructors mentioned that the experience of computer teachers serving in government schools was more relevant and practical, which should be given priority. They said including experience from other institutes would violate rights of teachers who served for years in government schools.

“This decision taken by the government is definitely a big step towards the promotion of the IT education in Himachal Pradesh. However, if the experience of government school teachers is not given priority in the recruitment process, it will be injustice to those teachers who have served for years under the rules of the Education Department,” they stated.

“All computer and IT vocational teachers are requesting the government to accept this demand on priority and make suitable amendments in the recruitment process so that qualified and eligible candidates can get their rights and their years of struggle can get a proper results,” they said.

They further mentioned that if this experience was extended to teachers working in private educational institutions or other non-government organisations, it would be unfair to those teachers of government schools who dedicated their entire life to the Education Department with a hope.

“Like other teacher categories, this will be an important step towards regularising computer teachers and vocational trainers. If all teaching categories can be regularised, then the government should also provide equal opportunities to computer teachers,” they said.
