Solan, July 12

Arvind Singh, a migrant labourer from Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh, committed suicide by hanging himself with a nylon cloth in his rented accommodation at Thana village in the Baddi industrial area today morning, as a contractor failed to pay him wages.

According to an FIR registered by his fellow villager, Dhananjay Kumar, the victim had called his friend Suraj on July 5 and told him that his money was stuck with a contractor, and he would now work at another place. Dhananjay also stated that Arvind’s brother, Rajan Singh, had sent him a video message today, wherein the deceased was heard saying that the contractor had refused to pay his wages, due to which he was facing shortage of money and was forced to commit suicide. He had named the contractor, who had forced him to take this extreme step.
