Dharamsala, August 4

The government has sought a report into the defacement of the Devi Kothi temple in Chamba district.

The district language officer of Chamba today directed contractors to stop the temple renovation work with immediate effect.

He has stated in a notice that a committee comprising the SDM, Churah, the district language officer, assistant engineer, DRDA, and the in-charge of Bhuri Singh Museum in Chamba, has been formed for the upkeep of the temple.

The committee will carry out an inspection of the temple and ensure that no change is made in the heritage structure of the temple.

Many heritage buildings are being changed as per the whims of local politicians.
