Shimla, June 20
The steep increase in the number of Covid cases in the state continued with 29 more persons, most of them returnees from Delhi, testing positive for the infection today. The total number of positive cases in the state stands at 656.
Hamirpur district continued to be the worst hit with 11 persons testing positive for Covid. Kangra and Shimla reported four new cases each, Una and Solan three each, Sirmaur two and Bilaspur and Kullu one each.
Of the four patients in Shimla, two were in institutional quarantine in the city while one was at a similar facility at Sarahan. DC Amit Kashyap said all three had been shifted to the Covid care centre at Mashobra.
The person, who tested positive in Kullu, had returned from Delhi on June 12 and was in institutional quarantine.
11 catch virus in Hamirpur
Eleven persons, including two women, tested positive for coronavirus in Hamirpur district today. Eight of them had returned from Delhi while the other three are among the primary contacts of a person who had tested positive earlier. Eight of 11 Covid-positive persons are from Sujanpur, two from Galore and one from Taunidevi.
Kullu tally 5
A 26-year-old youth tested positive for Covid-19 in Bhuntar of Kullu district on Saturday. DC Richa Verma said that the infected person was an employee of the Kullu airport. He had returned from Delhi on June 12 and was in institutional quarantine. She said that he had not come in contact of other people. There are now five Covid cases in the district.
5 cases in Solan, Sirmaur
Three persons, including a policeman, were found infected in Solan while two cases were reported from Sirmaur.
In Sirmaur district, a 20-year-old youth, who had arrived at Paonta Sahib on June 9 by bus from Gorakhpur, tested positive. He works at an industrial unit where he was in quarantine.
The HRD manager of a pharma unit at Paonta Sahib, who was the primary contact of another positive patient, also tested positive. He was quarantined at a resort.
4 positive in Kangra
Four persons tested positive for Covid infection in Kangra, taking the number of cases in the district to 170 which include 55 active cases. Those who tested positive include 33-year-old woman of Lakwan Bassa village in Indora. She had come back from Delhi on June 12 and was in quarantine.
