Shimla, December 17
A team of police officers, led by DGP Sanjay Kundu, today visited the Venkateshwara Temple complex at Thirumala in Andhra Pradesh to learn the best practices of temple security and crowd coordination and implement these in the state.
The Venkateshwara Temple complex at Thirumala is one of the largest and best managed temples in the country with an estimated 2.5 crore people visiting it annually. A first-hand exposure to the arrangements for security, crowd management, use of technology in this temple will enable the Himachal Police to devise similar arrangements for the temples located in Himachal, said Kundu.
The team comprises DIG Northerm Range, Dharamsala, Sumedha Dwevedi, SP, Una, Arjit Sen Thakur, SDPO, Jawalamukhi, Tilak Raj, SHO Kala Amb (Sirmaur), Inspector Yogender Singh, and ASI Neelam Kumar, Naina Devi ji (Bilaspur). The team also visited the Padmavati Amawari Temple complex to study the security arrangements and procedures adopted for the crowd management.
