Cops work on financial links in pistol seizure case of Nalagarh

In a bid to trace the backward and forward linkages of an illegal pistol seizure case in Nalagarh, the police are tracing the financial transaction of its sale.

With the use of illegal firearms coming to the fore every now and then in this bordering industrial cluster, the police were keen to trace the origin of such weapons, besides tracing who were the end-users.

Several pictures of weapons have been recovered from the cell phone of one of the accused, making the police ascertain whether the accused habitually indulged in the nefarious sale of weapons.

SP Baddi Vinod Dhiman said some financial transactions by the accused were under scanner and they were also trying to ascertain whether more weapons were sold by them.

No live cartridges had been seized from the pistol by the police. Though the residences of both accused were raided by the police soon after their arrest, nothing incriminating was found.

Two youths had been arrested on Saturday evening by the police for illegally possessing a .32 mm bore pistol from car (HP12M-8283) at Khera village near Nalagarh. They are presently in police remand and officials were interrogating them further in the case.

The accused have been identified as Luv Kumar (28), a resident of Ratyod village, and Prabhjeet Singh (32), a resident of Handa Kundi village in Nalagarh.

The duo could not produce any licence/documents for possessing the pistols on the spot, following which a case was registered against them at the Nalagarh police station under Section 25-54-59 of the Arms Act and Section 3(5) of the BNS.

Notably, Nalagarh MLA Hardeep Bawa had also raised voice against illegal arms being present in the industrial cluster and had urged the police in September 2024 to launch a campaign to confiscate these.
