Nurpur residents violate ban on polythene bags

Despite the blanket ban, the use of polythene carry bags continues unabated in Nurpur and its surrounding areas. The ban is being violated in every nook and corner, and the authorities concerned have turned a blind eye to it. Vegetable vendors and shopkeepers selling grocery are using it with impunity, but the officials supposed to check its use don’t seem to be bothered at all. The state government has empowered several officials of different departments of the district as well as subdivisional headquarters to keep a check on the offenders and penalise them. Yet, the violation continues.
