Shimla, August 23

A couple was killed and their one-year-old went missing after the car they were travelling in plunged into Pabbar river in Jubbal subdivision in Shimla district on Thursday.

The deceased have been identified as Susheel Kumar (36) and his wife Mamta (26), residents of Jhalta village in Jubbal.

They were on their way to Jhalta village when the driver, Susheel, lost control of the vehicle near Bhalu Kyar area and it plunged into the river, killing them on the spot. The accident was noticed by locals, who informed the police.

A police team from Rohru reached the spot and recovered the dead bodies from the river with the assistance of local residents. The bodies were taken to Civil Hospital, Rohru, for post-mortem.

Rohru Deputy Superintendent of Police Ravinder Negi confirmed the report and said that the search for the toddler was ongoing.
