Shimla, September 23

As many as 318 Covid-19 cases were reported in the state today, taking the tally to 12,899. Besides, three persons died of the virus, taking the total number of fatalities to 132.

Entire Kotkhai Nagar Panchayat was declared a containment zone for four days after four persons tested Covid positive. Since one of the infected persons runs a car parking and a newspaper agency, it was decided to declare the panchayat as a containment zone where only essential services would be allowed.

In the last 24 hours, one death each was reported in Shimla, Solan and Hamirpur. The highest number of 53 cases each were reported in both Shimla and Sirmaur, followed by 36 each in Solan and Kangra, 34 in Kullu, 30 in Chamba, 23 in Mandi, 18 in Hamirpur, nine in Una, seven in Bilaspur, six in Lahaul and Spiti and three in Kinnaur.

Two patients die in Mandi

Two deaths were reported in Mandi district due to Covid-19. Gian Chand, a resident of Hawani Ropri village in Sarkaghat, and Sukh Ram (64), a resident of Ladhwan village in Jogindernagar, died at Mandi medical college, said Dr Jeevanand Chauhan, Senior Medical Superintendent.

36 cases in Solan

Thirtysix Covid cases were reported in Solan district. These included 12 in the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh belt, 11 in Solan, three in Parwanoo and one each in Kandaghat and MMU medical college, Kumarhatti. Fiftythree persons, inclduing eight in Shillai, tested positive in Sirmaur district.
