Covid claims three more lives in Himachal

The surge in Covid cases continued in the state with 171 fresh cases and three deaths being reported today, taking the total number of positive cases to 6,116.
With three Covid deaths taking place today, including two at the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, the death tally of Covid positive persons has mounted to 36.
One positive person hailing from Nahan died at the IGMC today. The person was suffering from post renal transplant ailments and pneumonia. He was referred to the IGMC on August 26. Another 76-year-old Covid positive man, who had been referred from Bilaspur to the IGMC died, here today. He too was suffering from kidney problem. A 70-year-old woman, who died in Una yesterday, tested positive, taking the Covid death toll to 36.
The highest number of 33 cases were reported from Hamirpur, 28 from Una, 26 from Solan, 20 from Bilaspur, 18 from Kangra, 16 from Chamba, 10 each from Sirmour and Kullu, eight from Shimla and two from Mandi. The active cases in the state are 1,563 out of a total of 6,116 positive cases.
Nahan resident dies
A 68-year-old Nahan resident, who had tested positive for Covid and was referred to the IGMC, Shimla, on August 26, died on Monday. Deputy Commissioner, Sirmaur, RK Pruthi said that he had undergone renal transplant and was suffering from pneumonia and respiratory failure post-surgery. He was initially admitted to Dr YS Parmar Government Medical College and was later referred to the IGMC, Shimla, after testing positive for coronavirus. He was cremated at Nahan.
Barotiwala man succumbs
A 48-year-old man from a village near Barotiwala, who had tested positive for Covid and was suffering from acute respiratory distress, diabetes and hypertension, died at the PGI, Chandigarh, on Monday. Health officials said that he was admitted to the PGI with an acute respiratory infection on Sunday.
SHO, doctor +ve in Una
Una district recorded 28 cases, the highest-ever spike in a single day. A 70-year-old woman from Samoor Kalan village died due to Covid yesterday. The victim was admitted to the district hospital with flu-like symptoms. The infected persons included an SHO. Besides, a doctor and her husband tested positive.
