After conducting the inspection of the lab, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Rajesh Guleri said the RT-PCR test was a real-time polymerase chain reaction test for the qualitative detection of suspected Covid patients.

Tests of more than 100 Covid samples would be examined in this lab daily, the CMO said, adding that earlier, these samples were sent to the Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (IHBT), Palampur, and Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College (DRPGMC), Tanda, near Kangra, where it took time in the investigation process.

With the setting up of the lab here, there would be a speedy investigation, the CMO said. —OC
