A Covid-positive pregnant woman delivered a healthy baby boy through a C-section at Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College and Hospital (SLBSGMCH) at Nerchowk in Mandi on August 15.
Senior Medical Superintendent of the hospital Dr Jeevanand Chauuhan said the woman was referred from the Kullu regional hospital to their institute for the safe delivery of child. She was admitted in the hospital on August 14 and on August 15, her operation was conducted successfully. She gave birth to a healthy child weighing 3.4 kg.
“The procedure was done by Dr Anu Namgyal (gynaecologist), Dr Susheel Yongde ( anaesthetist), Dr Chandershekhar (Paediatrician), Dr Charul Rai, staff nurse Bharti and OTA Sonika,” he said.
He said the woman’s husband was under home quarantine in Kullu district. The woman had a history of C-section five years back, he said, adding that the couple’s consent had been taken to perform the C-section for a safe delivery this time too.
