The CPM has decided to oppose the bilateral trade agreement done by the Central government with the US to reduce tariff on apple. The party has also decided to support the trade unions call for strike on July 9. The decisions were taken in the Himachal Pradesh State Committee Meeting of the CPM, which concluded here today. The meeting was attended by politburo member Tapan Sen and the political and organisational report was presented by state secretary Sanjay Chauhan.
Chauhan further said that the party also decided to stop eviction from land, locking and removal from houses and the implementation of FRA immediately. In another demand, the party has asked the Central government to amend Forest Conservation Act, 1980, to give land to tribals, poor farmers and families affected by natural calamities.
The party also decided to oppose policy of privatisation of the power sector and installation of smart prepaid electricity meters. The party further demanded that Funds for MNREGA given by the Central Government should be released immediately and minimum 100 days work should be ensured.
It also opposed the New Education Policy to privatise education and the government’s decision to privatise HRTC and roll back the decision of hike in bus fare.
