Dharamsala, December 12
Cricket great Richie Richardson and his wife Lady Arlene Richardson celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary in McLeodganj on Friday evening. The couple, who married in 1998, marked the milestone at an intimate rooftop gathering at ‘Mclo’, a popular hotel overlooking the town’s main square.
A special cake-cutting ceremony was arranged for the evening, during which the couple cut the cake together and shared the first bites, drawing warm applause from the guests. A live band added a lively yet relaxed ambience, making the celebration feel personal and warm.
Richardson, fondly known as Sir Richie Richardson, is currently in Dharamsala in his role as an ICC Match Referee for the upcoming India-South Africa T20 match scheduled for Sunday. Born on January 12, 1962, the Antiguan cricket legend is admired for his elegant batting, composed leadership style and his iconic wide-brimmed maroon hat. After a prolific international career through the 1980s and mid-1990s, he moved into cricket administration. The quiet celebration in McLeodganj offered a rare glimpse of the former West Indies captain enjoying a personal moment away from the glare of global cricket.
