Amit Gurjar, who is wanted in several criminal cases in Haryana, and his three accomplices fired at a Kalka police party that was chasing them in the Barotiwala area near the Himachal-Haryana border around 10 pm yesterday.
Baddi SP Rohit Malpani said that Gurjar along with his three accomplices fired at a person at Paploha village, near Kalka, last evening and fled towards Lehi village in Barotiwala. A police team from Kalka chased them and when the policemen attempted to obstruct their movement near a private university at Kalujhinda with their vehicle, two of the four criminals fired at them. The police also fired two rounds in retaliation. The criminals, however, managed to escape.
Accused escaped

The Barotiwala police have registered a case under the IPC for attempt to murder and the Arms Act against Amit Gurjar, Sunny Ghatiwala, Bittu Kohli and Bhagga Shahpur.
“We had set up nakas at the Barotiwala inter-state barrier after receiving information about armed criminals having fled towards our area last night in a black Mahindra Scorpio (HP-93-3035) SUV. The accused, however, entered our area from an escape route at Kalujhida, which was far from the naka. The entire area was searched today to nab the accused and an empty cartridge and a live bullet were recovered from the place,” he said.
