Shimla, December 19
Chief Secretary Dr Shrikant Baldi today directed the authorities to identify land in each district for the construction of a heliport. “All departments should work together to speed up tourism projects in the state,” he added.
Reviewing the progress of the tourism projects, undertaken by Himachal Pradesh Tourism Department, Baldi said Himachal’s diverse and rich tourism potential should be explored to generate employment.
The Chief Secretary said in order to boost tourism in the state, new sites for paragliding should be explored under “Nai Rahein Nai Manzilien” programme while keeping all safety parameters in mind.
Bulah Kataru in Mandi district should be developed as an eco-tourism destination. Approval was given for setting up shikaras in Pong and other water bodies.
Baldi said Himachal was emerging as an attractive destination on the tourism map, owing to its beautiful natural landscapes. “We should strive to capitalise the potential through expediting infrastructure development,” he added.
