Palampur: Hand sanitiser, developed by the CSIR-IHBT, Palampur, is available in the local market. Besides, the CSIR IHBT has started its distribution to different agencies and authorities in the state and outside. The sanitiser was handed over to Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur through DC Rana, Special Secretary, Revenue and Disastrous Management. The product has been given to the Civil Hospital, Palampur, also. It has been provided to offices of SDM and DSP and Speaker. OC

Fertiliser shops to open during relaxation

Shimla: Three hundred plant protection centres will remain open during the curfew relaxation period to facilitate farmers and horticulturists to get fungicide, spray oil and fertilisers, said Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, while presiding over a meeting with senior officials here on Saturday. Thakur said the government had also decided to allow the shops, selling plant protection material, to remain open during the period. Steps had also been taken to allow transportation of bee boxes from neighbouring states keeping in view the upcoming apple season. TNS

Platform for disaster response ready

Shimla: The HP State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA) has facilitated the formation of a government organisation and non-government organisation (GO-NGO) coordination platform for disaster response (during and after disasters) and disaster preparedness (during normalcy), said Director-cum-Special Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management, DC Rana here on Saturday. As on today 51 NGOs are already part of this network (www.hpiag.in). He said NGO leaders from the District Inter-Agency Group (DIAG) of the districts would be of great assistance in effective execution and coordination of response efforts. TNS

300 youths stuck in Baddi: Cong leader

Mandi: Congress leader Vijay Pal Chauhan said more than 300 youths hailing from the Seraj assembly segment of Mandi district were stuck in Baddi industrial area under Solan district for the past few days because of lockdown. All these youths were employed in factories in the Baddi industrial area. “Due to the current situation, many of them are facing difficulties in arranging even two square meals a day for their survival. Families of these youths are also in distress,” he added. He said the state government should make arrangements to take them home. TNS

HPSEBL sets up control rooms

Shimla:HP State Electricity Board has appointed nodal officers and control rooms to redress complaints. Eight control rooms have been set up under Lokesk Thakur, nodal officer, SE, in all electricity divisions. The control room number of Shimla city will be 0177-2807826 and will be looked after by Executive Engineer Tanuj Gupta. A control room has been set up for Shimla division 0177-2624123 under Pratap Sangroli, executive engineer. Shimla division number two is 0177-2844022 under XEN Sunil Jarrett. For rural areas under Shimla, control rooms have been set up in Sunni, Theog and Chopal and their numbers are 0177-2786538, 01783-238231 and 01783-260031. TNS

Help assured to those stranded

Chamba: Chamba Deputy Commissioner Vivek Bhatia on Sunday urged people stranded in other parts of the district to stay put for their safety. He assured them that they will be provided all help by the authorities of the respective area. The DC said paying guest (PG) owners and landlords could not force them to go away as it was their responsibility to take care of them at this critical time. He said if still some one wanted to come back to Chamba, quarantine centres had been established at critical entry points such as Tunnuhatti, Lahru and Draman, where they would be kept for 14 days. “If anyone entered the district illegally, strict action would be taken”, DC stated. The DC said the dealers of medicines, vegetables and fruits had been asked to ensure free home delivery without extra charges. OC
