CTA pays homage to Gandhiji

The Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) led by Sikyong Penpa Tsering held an official ceremony on the occasion of the 152nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi (Gandhi Jayanti) at the Kashag Secretariat, Gangkyi. The ceremony began with the Sikyong lighting a butter lamp and paying homage at the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi.

While addressing mediapersons, Penpa Tsering said that Mahatma Gandhi was an epitome of the non-violent struggle and he had set an example to resolve conflicts through nonviolence. Gandhiji’s model was followed by Nelson Mandela in South Africa during his struggle against apartheid as well as by Martin Luther King during the civil movement in the United States. There were also numerous examples of such cases like the Czech Republic.

In the case of the current Tibetan struggle, the strength of the issue is based on non-violence led by his holiness the Dalai Lama, who holds the Mahatma in high regards, he said.
