The Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP), Dharamsala, has entered into a significant partnership with the 2nd India Reserve Battalion (2nd IRBn), Sakoh, Kangra, by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The collaboration aims to build strong academic-practical linkages between CUHP students, researchers, faculty members and police personnel of the battalion.

Through this MoU, university students and scholars will gain first-hand exposure to police functioning, training methods and real-world challenges, while the police will benefit from academic expertise in research, consultancy and skill-building programmes.

The partnership emphasises joint research, development projects, training activities and knowledge exchange. Faculty and students will support police trainees in enhancing their understanding of basic, promotional and short-term courses vital to their profession.

Vice Chancellor Prof Sat Prakash Bansal highlighted that the collaboration will foster growth for both institutions through research, capacity-building initiatives and mutual learning. Echoing this, Dr Khushal Sharma, IPS, Commandant of 2nd IRBn, added that the MoU also extends to consultancy in landscaping, gardens, parks and hospitality services for the state police.

This institutional mechanism marks a bridge between academic insights and practical law enforcement, providing CUHP students with a rare opportunity to understand the complexities of policing while helping the police modernise and innovate.
