Dr Shailender Kumar Verma, assistant professor at School of Life Sciences in Central University Himachal Pradesh (CUHP), has received the prestigious fellowship from the Royal Society UK.

As per the WHO, more than 2 billion people suffer from mineral micro-nutrient deficiency and problem is even worst in India. A majority of Indians are dependent on wheat and rice. Most of the wheat varieties have lower micro-nutrients. Dr Verma has developed a few of the wheat-aegilops hybrids which has higher grain mineral micro-nutrients. — TNS
