The Information and Public Relations Department of the Himachal Pradesh Government organised cultural performances in various gram panchayats across Shimla district as part of a state-wide publicity campaign. The campaign aims to spread awareness about welfare schemes for Scheduled Castes and facilitate access to their benefits.
Theatre groups, including Jaishwari Lok Nritya Kala Manch, Him Aadhar Kala Manch Naldehra, Surdhani Kala Kendra and Jai Dev Kurgan Social and Cultural Kala Manch, performed in different villages, using songs, music and street plays to inform people about government welfare schemes and the process of availing their benefits.
The artistes highlighted that under the programme, beneficiaries from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes with an annual family income of less than Rs 50,000 can receive sewing machines or tools for carpentry and blacksmithing. They also emphasised the importance of instilling values and discipline at home to prevent youth from falling into drug addiction.
A large number of people, including panchayat heads, ward members and other officials, attended the events and appreciated the efforts of the artists in spreading awareness about government schemes.
