Himachal’s CY Station Data Centre 1930 has been selected for the prestigious SCOTCH Award from across India. The "Prestigious SCOTCH Award" is a highly respected civilian honour in the country, that is given by the SCOTCH Group to individuals, projects and institutions that make a significant contribution to positive socio-economic change in the country by demonstrating exemplary leadership and putting in extra effort to make India a better nation.
Inaugurated by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on October 21, 2024, the CY Data Centre plays a crucial role in preventing cyber crimes. The CY Station Data Centre has integrated the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP) and 1930 systems, allowing complaints to be uploaded in real-time onto the NCRP platform. This integration ensures that fraud amounts are immediately held and the cyber nodal officers of each district are also connected.
The CY Station operates in eight verticals which are Customer Service Support Centre (CSSC), through which calls from complainants on the 1930 toll-free number are handled, thus providing support 24x7, Bank Coordination Centre (BCC) which coordinates with banks and their nodal officers, HIM Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (HIM4C), that functions as the nodal body, updating the NCRP portal, Data Analytic Centre (DAC) that works on data warehousing and data analysis, I-crack (Cyber Forensic Lab) which assists investigation officers with forensic support, Cyber Training & Research Centre (CTRC) that conducts cyber-related training and awareness programs, Cyber SMAT (Social Media Analyzer Team) which engages in Cyber Intelligence Collection and HP Cyber Crime Mitigation Centre (HP-CCMC) that provides technical assistance to prevent cyber crimes.
Director General (CID) SR Ojha said that the selection of CY Station Data Centre 1930 for this award is a matter of pride for Himachal Pradesh.
He said that the CY Station Data Centre operates around the clock to assist people with police officers working in shifts. “The Cyber Station receives 450-500 calls daily related to cyber crimes such as financial fraud, social media fraud and more. The CSSC team answers 100 per cent of these calls. Calls related to financial fraud are immediately uploaded to the NCRP portal to ensure that funds are quickly held. On average, 40 to 50 complaints are uploaded to the NCRP portal daily. In 2024, a total of 11,982 complaints were uploaded to NCRP, involving Rs 114 crore in fraud.
