Shimla, August 5
The Shimla Cycling Association, in collaboration with the Forest Department, today organised “Pedal and Plant 3.0”, an annual mission dedicated to promoting afforestation and the sport of cycling.
The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of tree plantation and inspire the community to take action against deforestation.
Cyclists from all walks of life joined the drive to plant trees and pedal through the scenic landscapes of Shimla.
The initiative not only emphasised the significance of tree plantation, but also highlighted the role of cycling as an eco-friendly mode of transportation that contributed to environmental sustainability.
“The importance of tree plantation cannot be overstated. Using cycling as a medium to promote eco-friendly practices is a great initiative. The main aim of this plantation drive was to ensure the regular supervision of the planted saplings for a better success rate,” said Shimla Cycling Association president Mohit Sood. “Events like these generate a sense of responsibility among the younger generations, encouraging them to connect with the environment and preserve our ecology.”
