In a significant crackdown on illegal liquor smuggling, the Dalhousie police team successfully seized a large consignment of illicit liquor being transported in a truck.

Local police had received intelligence that illegal liquor was being moved through the region in a truck. Acting swiftly on the information, the Dalhousie police, in coordination with the Excise Department, set up a checkpoint at Khairi Bridge. When the suspected truck arrived at the Khairi Bridge, the joint team stopped the vehicle and conducted a thorough search. During the inspection, the team discovered 102 crates of illegal liquor inside the truck. This included 49 cartons of country liquor and 53 cartons of branded liquor.

The police have arrested the truck driver, 30-year-old Kartik Thakur of Dhira area, Kangra. A case has been registered under the Excise Act and further investigation is underway.
